This session I have been extremely busy trying to improve the lives of the citizens in the 11th District and throughout the Commonwealth. Below are the bills I patron and co-patroned. To track bills, visit http://leg1.state.va.us/.

Patroned Bills:

  • HB1644- Promotes early voting; with the turnout for the November 2008 election, I felt it imperative to allow our citizens to have the freedom to vote early if they choose, without an excuse
  • HB1683- Provides that a party may recover against the drawer of a check, draft, or order the face amount of the check if written in bad faith and stop payment order
  • HB2264- For future renovations of a new public facility, this bill allows sales tax revenue to go to locality from sales made in the facility
  • HB2265- Eliminates the requirement of the State Board of Social Services adopt regulations to certify family day homes
  • HB2266-Expands current record exemption for the names, addresses and telephone numbers of complainants relating to zoning enforcement complaints made to a local governing body
  • HB2662-Allows community development authorities to request additional taxes from the locality related to occupancy tax and food and beverage tax
  • HB2663-Allows appointment of industrial or economic development authority directors to the board of water and waste authorities
  • HJ628- Restores the rights of citizens who would like to but are unable to vote due to a non-violent offense on their record allowing some of our taxpayers to have the freedom to participate in government, since the laws affect them as well
  • HJ745- In loving memory of Mr. Fred W. Hutchins, Jr., Senator Webb’s former aide as well as my former aide and good friend
